About the Network
Thames Valley Regional Network (TVRN) is a non profit making entity formed to support training providers in the region covered by Thames Valley Skills Funding Agency. It's membership is open to all training providers who contract with the Skills Funding Agency. Our members are representative of all types of provider from the smallest private provider to the large nationals and including colleges.
We are a Company Limited by Guarantee which enables us to contract with the Skills Funding Agency for project funding on behalf of our members. The majority of eligible training providers are members of the Network; this allows us to honestly say that we speak for the majority of providers when we participate in any discussions about training in the Thames Valley region.
We have an elected Board of Directors made up of representatives from member organisations. We try to ensure that the board is representative of all types of organisation, large and small, private and college. The current Directors are: Sara Goldie (Chair) HIT Training; Steven North (Vice Chair) Span Training; Lynne Saint, BCA; and Jane Williams, Paragon. Jane Wick, the TVRN Network Manager holds the role of Company Secretary.
What do we do?
We meet regularly, to share ideas and discuss current issues. These meetings usually include speakers and input from the Skills Funding Agency and the National Appreticeship Scheme on new initiatives and updates on the various programmes including Apprenticeships, Train to Gain and e2e. These meetings also allow us to discuss issues as a group and plan future network activity. When possible we include external speakers at these events; previous speakers have included the Association of Learning Providers (ALP); TVPDN; JISC as well as organisations offering Key Skills and Basic Skills support. Attendance at our Network events is usually between 75-80% of the membership this ensures that a majority of members receive messages and information at the same time, the Skills Funding Agency have found this to be one of the most effective ways of sharing information with its providers.
We have a mailing list which is used to forward information to our members received by us as a Network. We receive regular updates from ALP and ALPSE, awarding bodies and the Skills Funding Agency. Where possible we restrict our information sending to email – this keeps down costs and allows you to share information in the quickest and most cost effective format.
